The box is 14.5cm wide x 14cm deep x 18cm high The box is lacquered and features a large bird (Ibis?) flying above cherry blossoms and clouds. There are some chipped areas on the front and it is missing the original brass handle on the top. It does still have the very beautiful decorative metal pieces on the front. We have not polished them but they could
It has 3 drawers within with original small metal handles. The interior is decorated with island scenes. The jewellery box is not in perfect condition. The front door has been repaired with 3 metal pieces which have worked well but perhaps are not the most sensitive restoration. We found a very similar one in the Groninger Museum in the Netherlands.
Please check the photos carefully as they show the condition. It works perfectly well and is a beautiful treasure box.
