The Grimwade’s Quick Cooker is an antique Edwardian ceramic pudding basin and stew boiler, first introduced around 1911 by the English pottery company Grimwades Ltd. It was highly regarded in its time, winning a gold medal at the 1911 London exhibition, and remains a popular collectible piece of kitchenalia today
In excellent vintage condition.
Measures 110mm high x 173mm wide approximately
1.5 pints capacity
- Central Flue: The most defining feature of the Quick Cooker is a hollow, central ceramic "flue" or funnel that runs up through the middle of the bowl.
- Steam Circulation: When placed in a water bath or pot, the central funnel allows steam to circulate and conduct heat directly into the center of the pudding or stew, allowing the food to cook much more efficiently and evenly.
- Versatility: It was advertised as a multifunctional vessel perfect for steamed puddings, savory stews, and keeping meat hot for hours without drying it out.
